Abstract
Although C60 is a good electron acceptor molecule, most of its derivatives show decreased electronegativity in comparison to parent C60. The chemical modification of fullerenes has allowed us to enhance the electron acceptor ability of substituted fullerenes, thus making it feasible to modulate their electronic properties. Some of the most significant examples of the different strategies followed in this sense are highlighted in this review. To cite this article: B.M. Illescas, N. Martín, C. R. Chimie 9 (2006).
