Abstract
⺠The Straits of Malacca and Singapore are important shipping routes. ⺠Heavy shipping has adversely affect the marine environment of the Straits. ⺠Proposals for Particularly Sensitive Sea Area (PSSA) designation. ⺠Comparison with the Torres Strait. ⺠The Straits of Malacca and Singapore may possess the criteria needed for PSSA designation. ⺠It is important to ensure sustainable development is promoted in the Straits.
