Abstract
In the above figure is shown the ratio of particles leaving a shallow open container during tilting, for various angular velocities. The test can be used for identifying the angle of repose. Comparisons with similar tests in deep containers can help to relate grain shift phenomena with established and with novel testing methods in the field of maritime transport.
