Abstract
► Solitary waves have been simulated using smoothed particle hydrodynamics method. ► The solitary wave split up have been explored while the wave propagates over the step. ► Dynamic free surface boundary condition in SPH model yields larger time step size. ► Ghost particles were used to model boundaries with sharp corners. ► SPH model predictions have been compared with both mesh based and meshless methods.
