Abstract
⺠The potential for neutronics design optimization is assessed for a large SFR core. ⺠Both beginning-of-life and equilibrium fuel cycle conditions are considered. ⺠The sodium void effect is decomposed via a neutron balance based methodology. ⺠The optimized core options adopt an appropriate sodium plenum design to reduce the void effect. ⺠The introduction of moderator pins is considered for enhancing the Doppler effect.
