Abstract

highlights•In this study the expansion potential for district heating in Denmark is examined.•The potential is found by making GIS based cost models for DH and comparing the costs toindividual heating.•A reference scenario with the current heat demand and a future scenario with reduced heatdemand are analyzed.•We find that there is a potential for expanding district heating in Denmark, especially in areas with high density.•
