Abstract
► An experimental investigation on heat transfer optimization of an impinging port-array inverse diffusion flame jet. ► Effects of air port diameter and the equivalence ratio on heat transfer and fuel utilization efficiency are studied. ► Effects of the burner-to-plate distance and Reynolds number on heat transfer and fuel utilization efficiency are studied. ► Burner with smaller air port diameter produces higher maximum heat flux and average heat flux in the impingement region. ► Fuel-lean combustion between Φ = 0.9 and Φ = 1.1 are found to be desirable operational conditions.
