Abstract

Chemical absorption is a very effective and nowadays often used method of gas separation in chemical industry. This method is also often taken into account when considering systems of carbon capture from flue gases of coal-fired power plants. This process is very energy-intensive and significantly reduces the performance of the power plant. In the paper, the integration of a coal-fired power plant with the gas turbine combined heat and power system for carbon capture installation has been analysed. The parameters of the gas unit, which fully meets the needs of carbon capture installation for the 900 MW coal power plant with supercritical parameters, have been determined. In carbon dioxide capture installation aqueous ammonia have been used as a solvent. There have been examined two variants of the gas unit:- natural gas-fired gas turbine with water boiler,- natural gas-fired gas-steam cycle with 1-pressure heat recovery steam generator. The parameters of these analysis have been compared with parameters of power plant working without gas fuelled system.Specified rate of avoided emissions, and economic analysis of the project have been determined.
