Abstract
⺠PCCI combustion may reduce NOx and soot emissions, but with penalty in efficiency and noise. ⺠NOx and soot levels are mainly controlled by the intake oxygen concentration. ⺠Engine noise is sensitive to SOI and O2 concentration, and not to injection pressure. ⺠Controlling ID may reduce combustion noise of PCCI engines.
