Abstract
⺠The energy input of soilless cultivation of fresh-cut baby leaves is high. ⺠Materials with a short life expectancy (perlite and trays) strongly contribute to fossil energy input. ⺠The accurate utilisation and recycling of these materials could reduce the energetic dependence of soilless cultivation systems. ⺠The low concentration of nutrient solution is the optimal strategy to increase the economic and energetic performance of baby leaves cultivation.
