Current status and innovative improvement of small commercial reactor in China

The current status and developing plan of China’s nuclear energy are introduced, and features of the small commercial reactor, CNP-300, are described. The ongoing improvements including power uprate, life extension, core management, and integration of passive safety systems are generally presented with the efforts to enhance the safety and economy.

► The current status and innovative improvements of CNP-300 were introduced. ► Electric power was uprated to 450 MWe, and designed life was extended to 50 years. ► Higher enriched fuels with gadolinium were used; iron-water reflector may be adopted. ► Passive Safety Injection System and Automatic Depressurisation System were adopted. ► Such improvements enhance the safety and economical competitiveness greatly.
