Abstract

The flow and heat transfer of turbulent pulsating flow in rod bundles in rolling motion is investigated. The simulation results are firstly validated with Direct Numerical Simulation results. The effect of spanwise and transverse additional forces due to rolling motion is weak. The effect of velocity oscillation could be divided into three parts, the Reynolds number, velocity oscillating period and oscillating velocity Reynolds number. As for these three parameters, only the contribution of oscillating velocity Reynolds number is obvious.

► The simulation results are in agreement with the DNS results. ► The influence of spanwise and transverse additional forces is weak. ► The contribution of oscillating velocity Reynolds number is considerable.
