Abstract
A concept of accelerator-driven system consisting of electron accelerator, neutron-generating target and two-core subcritical blanket with fast and thermal neutron spectrum has been presented. Some general features of the cascade neutron multiplication in the two-core subcritical blanket are discussed. Calculation results are demonstrated for the processes of electron–photon–neutron interactions of electron beam with the target material. Neutronic and heat engineering characteristics of the facility are also described. It has been shown that with the system's subcritical level of 2% and electron beam power of 4 MW, the facility power is as high as 50 MW.
