Abstract
⺠The Bolsovian/Asturian No. 5 Block coal is found in eastern Kentucky. ⺠It is among the splint coals of the central Appalachians. ⺠Splint coals are noted for thick, megascopically dull lithotypes. ⺠Microscopically, the lithotypes are inertinite rich. ⺠Inertinite maceral assemblages have fire- and degradation-derived inertinites.
