Abstract
⺠Sooty carbon deposits at an eastern Kentucky coal fire were investigated. ⺠The carbons consist of C nanotubes enclosing Hg and other nano-scale structures. ⺠Unlike soot from utility-scale coal combustion, fullerenes were not detected. ⺠Minerals include salammoniac, jarosite, and pickeringite.
