► Wellbore pump-induced waves decay fast away from the well in non-fractured reservoirs. ► Residual oil mobilization is unlikely in non-fractured reservoirs by wellbore sources. ► Wellbore sources could increase cross-ow in fractured reservoirs. ► Vibration-induced cross-ow could increase the mobility of residual oil.
