Abstract
⺠The paper presents a refinement of the elastodynamic Kirchhoff approximation. ⺠The refinement is based on a version of the Physical Theory of Diffraction. ⺠Diffraction by a semi-infinite plane and an infinite wedge is considered. ⺠The procedure gives results accurate in all geometrical region and penumbrae. ⺠Comparisons between GTD, Kirchhoff and the refined Kirchhoff are presented.
