Abstract

Photochemical reaction between diphenylamine and 1,1,1-tribromoethane was studied. UV light irradiation toward the starting mixture induced polymerization and green film was formed. Diphenylmethane type chromophores and its oligomers with extended π-conjugation system were suggested with UV–vis and ESR spectra. Clear photo-induced pattern formation was demonstrated.
