Abstract
► A model is developed to investigate energetic particle populations in Ganymede's magnetosphere. ► The characteristics of the populations over the polar cap and trapping region are determined. ► The moon shielding (surface absorption, flux tube sweeping, magnetic shielding) is quantified. ► The results are compared to Galileo observations. ► The reduction of the radiation dose for an orbiter is estimated.
