Abstract
The Submillimeter Array (SMA), the world's first imaging interferometric telescope at submillimeter wavelengths, consists of eight 6-m diameter antennas sited near the summit of Mauna Kea. This paper describes the current status of the SMA and presents several recent scientific results obtained on low mass star-forming regions, including imaging of the so-called “star-less” core L1014, linear polarization measurement of the protostellar binary system NGC1333 IRAS4A, and studies of multiple CO lines in the TW Hya protoplanetary disk.
