► All UHECR sources should not be assumed to have the same maximum energy. ► A distribution of Emax implies a change in UHECR effective spectrum AND composition. ► The effective abundance of heavy nuclei among UHECRs is systematically enhanced. ► The abundance enhancement ratios are computed in generic cases.
