On Hapke photometric model predictions on reflectance of closely packed particulate surfaces

► We point out an error that Hapke et al. made in modeling light reflection from packed layers. ► By using their intended method, we demonstrate the differences in modeled results. ► Controlled laboratory measurements are compared with various model predictions. ► Numerical models can better predict the measurement results.
