Abstract
⺠We present a spectroscopic method to discriminate biotic from abiotic carbonates. ⺠Infrared spectral modifications induced by thermal processing are investigated. ⺠We analyze carbonate samples with no evidences of biomineralization. ⺠Our method is a powerful tool for the search of life on Mars.
