Abstract
⺠We review why short-lived methane plumes on Mars is an astonishing claim. ⺠We construct models for transmission of methane lines through Earth's atmosphere. ⺠Wavelengths where methane was seen are strongly affected by telluric interference. ⺠Wavelengths where the observation is easier are consistent with no methane on Mars.
