Abstract
Novel, 1,3,4-oxadiazole derivatives carrying a thiophene unit were synthezised and their structures confirmed by elemental analysis, FT-IR and 1H NMR. UV–vis absorption and photoluminescence spectroscopy revealed emission peaks located between 427 and 437 nm; the measured absorption λmax and emission λem reflected the electron-donor character of the 1,3,4-oxadiazole derivatives. The crystal structure of one of the compounds was investigated.
