Abstract
This paper summarizes the integral-field spectrograph capabilities of the Gemini Observatory. The currently operational integral-field units (IFUs) are the deployable modules in the GMOS optical spectrographs (one at each site) and the GNIRS near-infrared spectrograph. The GMOS-S IFU is notable for being able to use the nod and shuffle technique for very accurate sky subtraction. The NIFS near-infrared spectrograph is currently being commissioned to work with the Altair adaptive optics (AO) system at Gemini North. In the future, integral-field techniques will be used in conjunction with an extreme AO coronagraph.
