Abstract

•We confirmed that LixLa(1−x)/3NbO3 is a thermofusible material.•Bulk single crystals of LixLa(1−x)/3NbO3 were grown by directional solidification.•We investigated the growth orientation of the LixLa(1−x)/3NbO3 single crystal.•The ionic conductivity measured in the single crystal wafer of LixLa(1−x)/3NbO3.

Bulk single crystals of the perovskite LixLa(1−x)/3NbO3, which is one of the materials used as the solid electrolyte in all-solid lithium-ion batteries, have been grown for the first time by the directional solidification method. The ionic conductivity measured in the growth direction of a single crystal wafer of LixLa(1−x)/3NbO3 with x=0.08 showed a maximum value of 1.9×10−4 Scm−1.
