Abstract
We report on the growth and optical properties of the ultraviolet birefrigent crystal of Ba1âxSrxB2O4 solid solution. The crystals of Ba1âxSrxB2O4 (x=0.006â¼0.13) solid solution have been successfully grown by the Chozchralski method. The investigated results shows that the crystal of Ba1âxSrxB2O4 (x=0.006â¼0.13) solid solution has a high transmittance of 87% in the range of 190 and 2500Â nm and high laser damage threshold of 1.2GW/cm2 for 1064Â nm radiation. Therefore, the crystal of Ba1âxSrxB2O4 (x=0.006â¼0.13) solid solution can be regarded as a novel ultraviolet birefrigent crystal.
