Abstract
Nanostructured zinc selenide powder was synthesized in sodium hydroxide solution by hydrothermal method at different times and temperatures using zinc and selenium powder as precursors, and it was investigated by X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy. The results indicate that the crystalline grains of zinc selenide are coarsened with time and temperature, but the grains become inhomogeneous when the growth time is long and the growth temperature is high. According to the results, the formation mechanism of zinc selenide was further studied. Simultaneously, the reason of the production of the inhomogeneous grains of zinc selenide was analyzed, which results from the different nucleation process.
