Abstract
Ce doped (Lu1−xScx)BO3 single crystals up to 17 mm in diameter and 60 mm in length were successfully grown by the Czochralski (Cz) method. The grown crystals were colorless, transparent and single phase of calcite structure. Photoluminescence and the γ-ray excited scintillation decay of the crystals were obtained. The decay constant of the fast component due to Ce3+ was estimated to be 30 ns. The slow component decay was greater than 100 ns and was barely observed.
