Abstract
This paper reports growth and thermal properties of Cr3+:KAl(MoO4)2 crystals. A Cr3+:KAl(MoO4)2 crystal with dimensions of 45×35×10 mm3 was grown from a flux of K2Mo3O10 by the top-seed solution growth (TSSG) method. Cr3+:KAl(MoO4)2 crystal melts incongruently at 722 °C. The thermal expansion coefficients of Cr3+:KAl(MoO4)2 crystals are: αa=−3.80×10-6 K−1 and αc=78.7×10−6 K−1, respectively. The specific heat value is 0.32 J/g K at 313 K. The atomic force microscope (AFM) images of (0 0 1) cleavage plane of Cr3+:KAl(MoO4)2 crystal were investigated.
