Abstract
In this study, the authors have investigated the structural and optical properties of ZnO nanorods grown on c-sapphire substrates by metal organic chemical vapor deposition. The presence of strong band-edge emission and higher-order LO phonon scattering in resonant Raman process confirms the good optical quality ZnO nanorods. The observation of strong E2high optical phonon mode in the visible Raman spectra at 438Â cmâ1 justifies the wurtzite nature of ZnO. The ultraviolet resonant Raman scattering measurements on such nanorods show higher-order LO phonon modes and a frequency upshift at higher growth temperature.
