Abstract
This paper reports on the growth and spectral properties of Nd3+: BaLaLiWO6 crystals. A Nd3+: BaLaLiWO6 crystal with dimensions of ∅20×19 mm3 was grown by the Czochralski method. The optical absorption and emission spectra of the crystal were investigated. The Nd3+: BaLaLiWO6 crystal has a broad absorption full-width at half-maximum (FWHM) of 20 nm at 809 nm. The absorption and emission cross-sections are 2.51×10−20 cm2 at 809 nm and 4.04×10−20 cm2 at 1074 nm, respectively. The fluorescence lifetime is 120 μs at room temperature. Since the Nd3+: BaLaLiWO6 crystal is cubic and thus optically isotropic, it is advantageous for specific laser applications.
