Abstract
The present study reports microwave characterization of Co-Ti substituted ferrites with general formula, BaFe(12â2x)CoxTixO19 where x=0.0, 0.3, 0.5, 0.7 and 0.9. The structure, morphology, magnetic properties and microwave absorption of the synthesized compositions were investigated with X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope, vibrating composition magnetometer and vector network analyzer respectively. The complex permittivity (εâ²-jεâ´) and complex permeability (µâ²-jµ") were measured using vector network analyzer from 8.2 to 12.4 GHz. It has been observed that the control of grain size, a decrease in coercivity and enhanced values of dielectric loss are effective means to improve the microwave absorption. The maximum absorption of 99% was obtained for the composition x=0.7 with a peak value of reflection loss of â25.15 dB at a thickness of 3.3 mm.
