Abstract
ZrFe2−xNix alloys have been prepared by conventional arc melting method. X-ray diffraction (XRD) confirms C15 cubic structure of all ZrFe2−xNix samples. The magnetic properties of alloys have been investigated using 57Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy. The room temperature Mössbauer spectra of ZrFe2−xNix alloys could be fitted with two sextets and one doublet for x=0.2, 0.4 and with one doublet and one sextet for x=0.6, 0.8. The QS and IS dependence on x are discussed in terms of electron density. The hydrides showed volume expansion without any crystal structure change. Both Mössbauer hyperfine parameter QS and IS increased in the hydrides as compared to the parent alloys.
