Abstract
The paper considers the estimation of parameters in a description of hysteresis proposed by Jiles and Atherton. A novel approach, based on a “branch and bound” global optimization method has been proposed. The efficiency of the proposed procedure has been verified using a data set representative for a class of soft magnetic materials with and without numerically generated noise, as well as on experimental data. It has been proven that the new method is robust and can generate meaningful sets of model parameters in both cases.
