Abstract
The magnetocaloric effect of manganites LaMn1−xTixO3(0.05≤x≤0.2)(0.05≤x≤0.2) has been investigated. All samples undergo a paramagnetic to a ferromagnetic transition at the Curie temperature TC. A large magnetic entropy change occurs near TC and the magnitude of magnetic entropy change is comparable to some hole-doped manganites. The measurements of isothermal magnetization around Curie temperature reveal the largest magnetic entropy change |ΔSM||ΔSM| of 0.8 J/kg K for the x=0.05 sample. Moreover, according to the Banerjee criterion, the magnetic transition in LaMn1−xTixO3(0.05≤x≤0.2)(0.05≤x≤0.2) is of the second order, proved by a positive slope of the H/M vs. M2 curve.
