Abstract

An investigation of the linear and nonlinear optical properties of a hydrogenic donor, which is in a spherical parabolic quantum dot (QD), has been performed by using the matrix diagonalization method. Based on the computed energies and wave functions, the linear and the third-order nonlinear optical absorption coefficients have been examined between the ground (L=0L=0) and the first excited state (L=1L=1). The results are presented as a function of the incident photon energy for the different values of the confinement strength and the incident optical intensity. It is found that the optical properties of the hydrogenic donor QD are strongly affected by the confinement strength (or dot size), the impurity, and the incident optical intensity.
