Abstract

Longitudinally driven giant magnetoimpedance effect in Fe73.5Cu1Nb3Si13.5B9 ribbons has been investigated. The experimental results showed that a maximum magnetoimpedance ratio of 15 462% and a relative sensitivity of 7300%/Oe were achieved in the ribbon with dimensions of 1.5 cm×0.8 mm×25 μm annealed at 480 °C. The relative sensitivity was enhanced by 28 times due to the magnetoelastic resonance. The relationship between the magnitude of enhancement and the magnetoelastic coupling coefficient k was analyzed in detail. It was found that the high magnetoelastic coupling coefficient was favorable for achieving large giant magnetoimpedance effect of the specimen.
