Abstract
Regarding the environmental effect as the structural fluctuation in the DNA helix, whether the structural fluctuation will affect the charge transfer and how to influence it will be investigated with the tight-binding Su-Schrieffer-Heeger model in this letter. Our computations show that the structural fluctuation will change the shape of the static polaron, which is considered as the charge carrier of the DNA helix, and block the motion of the polaron in the direction of an electric field along the DNA stack.
