Abstract
Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) studies of KYb(WO4)2 single-crystal have been carried out by means of X-band spectrometer. The EPR spectrum confirms the existence of one Yb center only. For the stoichiometric ytterbium crystal the main z-axis of the g-tensor is located on the (0 1 0) plane at the angle of 42±1° to the crystallographic a axis in the clockwise direction, while the y- and b-axes are parallel. The EPR spectrum is characterized by a strong anisotropy of the g-factor (gz=6.62±0.05, gx=1.039±0.012, gy=0.997±0.012).
