Abstract
The magnetic properties of infinitely long monostrand Ti nanowire were investigated by using the full-potential linearized augmented plane wave method. The results show that the Ti monowires exhibit a ferromagnetic ground state. The magnetic moment is 0.61μB per-atom at the equilibrium bond length and increases with stretching. The origin of the wire magnetism was analyzed.
