Abstract
Current leads of HTS transformer are a part that leads to heat leakage. Its design and fabrication influence greatly the loss of nitrogen during operation. It is important to calculate and identify the heat leakage of current leads. According to the requirements of the 300 kVA HTS transformer used for electrical locomotives, based on finite element method and heat transfer theory, this paper designed unitary current leads, which are winded just like solenoid shape. And, as the low voltage current lead was not feed DC current or feed different DC currents, a series of experiments were carried out on measuring the gas flux respectively. Then, the calorimetry principle about heat leak is obtained. The experimental results show a good according with the simulation, which show that the unitary helical current lead meets the requirements of design.
