Abstract
It is found that the inactive edge can be reduced to about 400μm of guard rings with almost no reduction in pre-irradiation testability and leakage current performance. This is in particular important for the insertable b-layer upgrade of ATLAS (IBL) where inactive edges of less than 450μm width are required.
