Abstract
In this paper the performances and the potential of applications of a CeCl3 scintillator are investigated. In particular, the light response, the energy resolution, the α/βα/β light ratio, the α/βα/β discrimination capability and the main radioactive contaminants have been studied. All the measured features put forward the CeCl3 scintillator as an interesting detector medium for several possible applications in the field of Nuclear and Particle Physics and, potentially, of Medical Imaging.
