Abstract
The ATLAS pixel detector is the innermost subcomponent of the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. Approximately 80 million electronic channels of this silicon detector will provide a high precision measurement of charged particle trajectories and secondary vertices close to the interaction point. After connection of detector services and verification of their operation the ATLAS pixel detector is now in the final stage of its commissioning when a full characterization of the detector is being performed. The highlights of the commissioning activities of the ATLAS pixel detector are presented in this paper.
