Abstract
A prototype neutron detector for engineering materials diffractometer TAKUMI at J-PARC has been developed under international cooperation between Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL) and Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA). The detector head is the same type one as installed in ENGIN-X, ISIS facility, RAL and neutrons are detected based on a nuclear reaction of 6Li(n,α)3H using ZnS/6LiF scintillator. The data acquisition electronics and decoding module were also manufactured. The overall performances of the detector have been tested using various sources. The results showed that the detector met the requirements of TAKUMI and are described in this paper.
