Abstract
The fluorescence emission excited by electrons in air and pure nitrogen is measured. Observed fluorescence in 1N and 2P nitrogen band systems generated by electrons of up to 30Â keV energies is studied at low pressures with spatial, wavelength and time resolution. Experimental results are in good agreement with a model including effects of secondary electrons from ionisation processes.
