Abstract

This paper summarizes works on the development of detectors operated with external current injection (CID, Current Injected Detector) that makes it possible to significantly improve the detector operation at very high fluences. In a CID, the injected carriers allow the manipulation of the electric field distribution in the detector in such a way that the detector is fully depleted at any fluence. Detailed modeling and analysis of the CID enable us to define the range of operational temperature and detector bias. These studies on CID show the predictability of the CID operation and illustrate the benefit in the signal amplitude and operational bias voltage as compared to the standard p+–i–n+ detectors.
