Abstract
The development and experimental results of a circuit for active quenching of the discharge in Geiger–Müller counters a presented. The method increases the count-rate capability by one order of magnitude by stopping the discharge process in its initial stage and thus reducing the deadtime of the detector. This also increases the lifetime correspondingly.
